A 2-W octagon-type single-emitter semiconductor lighting source that runs directly from an AC supply without the need for converters has been released by Seoul Semiconductor. The Acriche produces luminous efficacy of 48 lm/W and consumes 17.6 W. It has a 25-mm diameter and offers a lifetime of 35,000 h. Collimators can be applied to adjust the viewing angle from narrow for focusing on smaller areas to wide for shining on larger areas. Applications include streetlamps, and industrial, scenery and architectural lighting.
