ULTRAFAST LASER

Coherent_ChameleonUltraWide.jpgCoherent Inc. has unveiled the Chameleon Ultra II laser, which produces more than 3.3 W of output power, an increase of 65% over earlier models. It provides continuous tuning over the 690- to 1080-nm spectral range, an improvement over similar types of lasers that reach 1050 nm. The improvements are a result of optimized cavity optics and the use of broadband mirror technology. The extended IR performance is designed to enhance many types of multiphoton excitation spectroscopy, enabling deeper penetration into live tissue and efficient excitation of long-wavelength fluorophores. The one-box device maintains the footprint, software interface and beam location of other models in the series, which feature hands-free, sealed operation.
