A 5-mm InGaN domed fluorescent pink discrete LED from Ledtronics Inc. has an optical-grade epoxy and produces 80-mcd illumination with a 180° viewing angle at 20 mA that is visible even in direct sunlight. Sturdy leads provide reliability in wire-wrap/through-hold printed circuit board applications. The LED’s solid-state design renders it insensitive to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. It can be used as an individual pixel in a large dot-matrix screen, in full-color screens, and in moving signs and displays. The average life span is >100,000 h.
