EMCCD CAMERA

The PhotonMAX line of high-performance cameras from
Princeton Instruments/Acton has been enhanced with a frame-transfer 1000 × 1000-pixel back-illuminated electron-multiplying (EM) CCD array. The company says that the PhotonMAX: 1024B offers improvements in speed and in signal-to-noise ratio. Its field of view is 13.3 × 13.3 μm, and it has ∼95% peak quantum efficiency. It can achieve –80 °C cooling without water or liquid nitrogen. Other features include 16-bit digitization and an optional fiber optic data interface that allows remote operation at distances up to 300 m.
