Syntune AB’s S4500 is a monolithic integrated 10-Gb/s transmitter tunable over the full C-band. Based on a single chip, it is supplied in a compact housing designed for integration into a small-form-factor 300-pin transponder and other small packages. Operating temperature is between –5 and 75 °C, with typical power consumption of <2 W and a maximum of 3.6 W at 75 °C. Driven with a push-pull radio-frequency signal, the device works as a zero chirp transmitter with a minimum extinction ratio of 11 dB and a maximum dispersion penalty of 2 dB across a dispersion range from –800 to 800 ps/nm.
