FiconTec GmbH of Bremen, Germany, has acquired the automated fiber alignment and laser welding product lines of Newport Corp. of Irvine, Calif. It has assumed support for approximately 400 systems worldwide and now is taking orders for the AA-Modal alignment and LW4000S laser welding systems. The technology completes ficonTec’s fiber optic process packaging chain. The company provides semi- and fully automated test, inspection, assembly and “pick and place” systems for the photonics and semiconductor industries
