Alfalight Inc. has announced the availability of its Telcordia GR-468-compliant 4-W 940-nm multimode diode laser for CATV and telecommunications applications. The AM6-940A-20-408 is housed in an uncooled, electrically isolated package. It has a 105-μm fiber output and a 0.22-numerical aperture, is fully hermetic and epoxy-free and operates over a temperature range from –5 to 70 °C. Operating current is 4.7 A typical, 5.6 maximum. Forward voltage is 1.8 V typical, 2.0 maximum. Typical and maximum spectral widths are 4 and 8 nm, respectively. Threshold current is 0.4 A typical and 0.7 maximum.
