High-speed 8k linear sensors for use in industrial inspection are available from Sarnoff Imaging Systems, a business unit of Sarnoff Corp. Companies can purchase them individually to build cameras customized to their needs. The sensors, with their camera modules, can line-scan test/evaluate products such as printed circuit boards and televisions. They feature a 17-kHz line rate, a front-illuminated CCD sensor with 7 × 7-μm square pixels, eight output ports each running at speeds up to 19 MHz and high sensitivity from the deep-UV (193 and 248 nm) to the visible band (400 to 700 nm). They offer a dynamic range of greater than 1500:1 and antiblooming capability to drain excess charge from intense illumination spots for full image clarity.
