For high-power amplifiers and lasers, OFS Specialty Photonics has introduced four erbium/ytterbium double-clad fibers. The fibers and the gain modules assembled from them offer high efficiency for lidar, test and measurement, and materials processing applications. The fibers are available with standard single-mode (6-μm core) and medium-mode (12-μm core) areas, and with or without polarization-maintaining construction. Benefits include high pump-to-signal power conversion efficiency, enhanced thermal management and improved suppression of parasitic lasing.
