The StarFiber 100 and StarFiber 200 fiber laser systems from Rofin Laser Micro provide 100 and 200 W of output power, respectively. Operating in pulsed and continuous-wave modes, both devices feature a 10-μs pulse width and a pulse frequency of 20 kHz. Their closed-loop power control is dependent on travel speed. Reliable pulse shaping and power control are achieved with a proprietary control unit, a component that includes a color touch screen, graphical menu navigation and integrated help functions. The devices’ high speeds and small spot sizes facilitate fine welds on thin metal sheets, foils, electromagnetic components and medical implants. The systems may be used to cut materials for medical devices.
