The TRS2 broken-tool detection system from Renishaw Inc. combines the laser source and detection electronics in one 83 × 38 × 73-mm unit. Typically in just 1 s, it can process tools as small as 0.2 mm at a distance of 0.3 to 2.0 m, operating at either 5000, 1000 or 200 rpm. It can analyze solid-center tools such as standard and ball-nose end mills, taps and reamers, and in drills including gun and slot.
