Specialised Imaging Ltd. has released the SIM-02, a multichannel framing camera that has up to 16 discrete intensified optical channels producing 32 separate images. Via a double-pulse technique, individual ultrahigh-resolution intensified CCD sensors controlled by state-of-the-art electronics produce two images per sensor. A hybrid beamsplitter overcomes parallax and improves resolution. The camera produces 1360 × 1024-pixel 12-bit images. Applications include nanotechnology and micromachines, ballistics, failure dynamics, spray and particle analysis, and automotive testing.
