Source Photonics will now be the joint company brand name for LuminentOIC Inc. and Fiberxon Inc., both wholly owned subsidiaries of MRV Communications Inc. of Chatsworth, Calif. The name change reflects the operation of the two companies as a combined business following MRV’s acquisition of Fiberxon in July. Under a unified management team, the integrated companies will offer a broad portfolio of optical transceivers for access, telecommunications and data communications networks. LuminentOIC, of Chatsworth and Hsinchu, Taiwan, supplies fiber optic components, and Fiberxon, of Santa Clara, Calif., develops the Flexon series optical modules and transponders.
