DIODE LASER
JDSU Corp. has introduced the 2495-L3 series 808-nm fiber-coupled diode laser. It incorporates new chip technology, and it optically pumps Nd-doped material to generate 1064-nm output. The 1064-nm beam either is used directly or is converted to green and UV laser light via harmonic conversion. Several devices with 4-W fiber output can be bundled to provide power equal to that provided by a conventional bar. The laser delivers 4 W of CW output and has a 0.2 NA, a typical spectral width of 3 nm FWHM, with 5 nm maximum, and slope efficiency of 0.90 W/A. Conversion efficiency is 40%, and typical operating current is 5.3 A, with 5.7 A maximum.
