RSoft Design Group has released version 4.7 of its Optical Communication Design Suite, which includes OptSim and its multimode companion ModeSys, as well as a new DFE/FFE error detection code model with minimum mean-squared error criterion coefficient optimization and advanced D(Q)PSK models for bit rates of ≥100 Gb/s. Users can design and simulate single- and multimode systems deploying error detection code at the receiver, based on the 10GBASE-LRM and ITU G.959.1 standards. The number of feed-forward and feedback taps can be specified, and coefficients can be inserted manually. Features include a Liekki Application Designer interface, an updated Jones matrix transfer function model and a compact transient erbium-doped fiber-amplified model.
