LED DRIVER
Clare Micronix has announced an off-line high-brightness LED driver. The MXHV9910 operates from an 8- to 450-V supply, making it suitable for flat panel display RGB backlighting, signage, decorative LED lighting and incandescent lamp replacement. It uses a boost/buck converter topology that drives from one to hundreds of LEDs in series and/or in parallel combinations. The drive current is regulated, and peak current to the LEDs is maintained through an external current sense resistor. Dimming is controlled either by adjusting the duty cycle of the pulse width modulation input or by applying a small control voltage. The device is available in an RoHS-compliant eight-lead small-outline integrated circuit package in tubes or on tape and reel.
