PYROELECTRIC DETECTOR
For use in infrared microscopy,
Selex Sensors and Airborne Systems UK Ltd. has unveiled Wren, an uncooled single-element pyroelectric detector based on company-grown deuterated L-alanine-doped triglycene sulfate material. It has an active area of 250 × 250 μm to replicate that of existing cooled detector technologies, such as mercury cadmium telluride, silicon or indium gallium arsenide. The company says that the devices provide trouble-free operation and a broad spectral response and that they involve no through-life costs.
