Designed for scanning and inspection applications, the ABL1500 series linear air-bearing stage from Aerotech Inc. features subnanometer resolution and travel up to 500 mm. Suitable for heavy or offset loading, the stage is equipped with active air preload on both vertical and horizontal surfaces, which distribute the load evenly over a large area. Opposing thin-film pressure maintains the bearing nominal gap tolerance. A BLMC series brushless linear servomotor with ironless forcer offers zero cogging, no attractive forces, smoothness of motion, high force and high velocity. Noncontact components, including the air bearing, the linear motor drive and the feedback device, ensure no wear or reduction in performance and require no maintenance.
