NANOMATERIALS
Using a proprietary laser pyrolysis process,
NanoGram Corp. has developed a suite of silicon-based nanomaterials for energy, electronic materials, display and solid-state lighting applications. Dispersible in a variety of solvents, the doped and intrinsic silicon and single-crystal nanoparticles exhibit a density of 2.33 g/cm
3 and a surface area from 30 to ∼300 m
2/g. They are suitable for use in flat panel display backplanes, in memory devices and in solar cell junctions. Other available materials include nanocrystalline silicon nitride and nanocrystalline silicon carbide. The silicon nanoparticles manufactured via the company’s NPM process are tailored for size, structure and morphology, and they feature high purity levels and average sizes as low as 15 nm.
