BLUETOOTH INTERFACE
Ophir-Spiricon Inc. has announced Quasar, a wireless Bluetooth interface that broadcasts laser meter measurement data to any PC or laptop located within 10 m. It reduces cable clutter and accommodates hard-to-measure areas such as glove boxes or high-power lasers that are behind barriers. It is available for most of the company’s thermopile, photodiode and pyroelectric smart heads and is offered as a table model that connects to the smart head and broadcasts to a PC, or it can be directly mounted on a proprietary thermopile head for portability. An optional antenna has an extended wireless range of up to 60 m, and a rechargeable battery provides >20 h of use. Each interface includes the company’s USBI PC software.
