Point Grey Research Inc. has added two models to its line of Grasshopper IEEE-1394b (FireWire) 800-Mb/s digital cameras. The GRAS-03K2M/C models incorporate monochrome or color Kodak KAI-0340 640 × 480-pixel 1/3-in. progressive-scan CCDs. Offering 200-fps full-resolution VGA readout, low noise, high quantum efficiency and sensitive 7.4-μm square pixels, the cameras have applications in machine vision, astronomy, the life sciences, high-speed test and measurement, and industrial and motion inspection. As with other Grasshopper models, they are housed in a lightweight 44 × 29 × 57.5-mm enclosure and feature a frame buffer for image storage and retransmission.
