Voxtel Inc. offers a line of solid-state silicon photomultipliers with low dark current and a single-photon-counting dynamic range of >40 MHz. The VIC series compact multianode avalanche photodiodes are suitable for use in fluorescence lifetime imaging, positron-emission tomography, nuclear medicine, high-energy physics, radiation detection, lidar, particle sizing and laser-induced fluorescence. The instruments detect weak light at the photon-counting level and are insensitive to magnetic fields. They consist of an array of small-area avalanche photodiodes connected in parallel on a common silicon substrate, and each pixel is passively quenched through individual resistors. They are available as die or in thermoelectrically cooled packages.
