Applied Materials Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., has agreed to purchase Baccini spa of Treviso, Italy, a supplier of automated metallization and test systems for manufacturing crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells. The former will pay €225 million for the outstanding shares of Baccini. The California-based company said that the Italian company’s technology will complement its own.
