For photonic design and simulation, RSoft Design Group Inc. has announced the release of ModeProp 1.0, an eigenmode expansion propagation software package that accounts for forward and backward propagation and radiation modes. It is an addition to the company’s Component Design Suite, in which all software tools share a common CAD interface. The new release, based on the stable modal transmission line theory, provides a rigorous and steady-state solution to Maxwell’s equations. This algorithm performs a full vector analysis for general structures in 2- and 3-D. The software can be used in waveguide- and fiber-based systems, in surface normal couplers, plasmonic devices, filters and mode converters, and in photonic bandgap applications.
