Photon Inc. has developed a collimation measurement system for use in the 3- to 5-μm-wavelength region for testing lasers and optics. Quantum cascade lasers operate in these mid-IR wavelengths, which increasingly are being used in imaging and remote-sensing applications. The system uses a principle of optics to acquire the beam collimation in a single measurement, rapidly and in real time. It also is available for ultraviolet, visible, and near- and far-infrared applications.
