Applied Optoelectronics Inc. has introduced small-form-factor pluggable (SFP) optical transceivers with an industrial operating temperature range. They run at up to 4.5 Gb/s and meet the wavelength specifications required by coarse wavelength division multiplexed networks over their operating temperature range from –40 to 85 °C. Their uncooled laser chip design and optimized module minimize wavelength drift. They are hot-pluggable SFP multisource agreement-, FC-PI 13.0- and digital diagnostic SFF-8472-compliant, and they meet GR 468 reliability specifications and offer serial ID functionality support. The transceivers are available at wavelengths from 1270 through 1610 nm.
