Photon Engineering LLC has released the FRED 7.0.0 version optical engineering software, which includes standard scripts that are embedded in and part of the FRED document — useful for document control purposes and to keep model-specific scripts with the model. Twelve glass formulas have been added to the material types, among them Cauchy, Extended Schott/Laurent and three forms of Sellmeier. New script commands support the new scatter models and ray buffer feature. A beam overlap factor has been added to the coherent field synthesis dialog box. The import of prescriptions from the thin-film design software OptiLayer, in addition to The Essential MacCleod, is now allowed.
