ASPHERIC LENSES

Edmund-Optics_fusilicaLense.jpgEdmund Optics Inc. has introduced TechSpec UV fused silica aspheric lenses. Their substrate offers a low coefficient of thermal expansion and a high operating temperature, suitable for tightly toleranced applications in the VIS and IR. Available at focal lengths of 25 and 30 mm, the 25-mm-diameter lenses offer a variety of coating options as well as low f numbers for good light-gathering and -focusing performance, making them suitable for collecting and focusing low-intensity UV sources, including fluorescent dyes, fluorophores and mercury light devices. They are optimized to eliminate spherical aberration and to minimize higher-order aberrations. They provide a clear aperture of 90% and a 60-40 surface quality with a surface accuracy as low as 0.75 μm root mean square with a diameter tolerance of +0.0/20.1 mm. The devices are compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive.
