785-NM LASER

A near-diffraction-limited laser for Raman microscopy has been released by
Torsana Laser Technologies A/S. The StarBright 785XM is a 785-nm laser with CW output power of 500 mW and beam quality of M
2 <1.7. Wavelength stability is ~20 pm/100 h, even under ambient temperature changes ranging from 20 to 30 °C. Based on proprietary feedback technology for broad-area-emitting diode lasers, the device offers a 0.7-mm beam with pointing stability of 40 μrad. Long-term power stability is <2% over 2 h, full-angle beam divergence is 2.9 mrad, maximum power consumption is 8 A at 40 W, and expected lifetime is >10,000 h. Other applications include interferometry, lidar and frequency doubling.
