Asylum Research Corp. has introduced a microscopy accessory that facilitates atomic force microscopy fluid imaging. Designed for use with the company’s MFP-3D atomic force microscopes, the iDrive cantilever holder with iDrive-compatible probes enables autotuning of cantilevers in fluid. Using a patented technique, it magnetically actuates the cantilever by driving a small current through the legs in the presence of a magnetic field, eliminating the multiple peaks that typically are associated with piezo-driven fluid tunes. The device can be operated in iDrive AC mode or in standard piezo-driven AC mode. It incorporates the magnet within the holder for an unobstructed bottom view of transparent samples.
