Toshiba Imaging Systems Div. is partnering with Olympus Canada to offer a high-definition clinical microscopy system. Olympus is integrating Toshiba’s ultracompact IK-HD1 three-CCD high-definition television camera into its line of clinical microscopes. The system includes a high-definition wide-screen 42- or 47-in. 1080-pixel LCD monitor and delivers video imagery in real time, displaying the entire slide at all magnifications and regions of interest. The camera and the three-chip prism block technology produce 1920 × 1080-pixel resolution at 30 fps with good color reproduction, contrast and image detail, without binning, image jitter or video lag. The camera control unit enables creation of custom color matrices. The LCD display has a refresh rate of 8 ms.
