Thomson has announced the 9211, a high-performance, high-definition CMOS image sensor for use in machine vision, medical imaging and surveillance applications. The device provides resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and has a dynamic range greater than 120 dB. It includes on-chip dual 12-bit analog-to-digital converters and operates at 90 fps. Its control electronics enable users to read pixels in any order and to capture them in interlaced or progressive formats. The sensor also offers 5-μm square pixels, a micro lens, and a 3-wire serial interface for control and status information.
