Tessera Technologies Inc. has announced that its OptiML Zoom image enhancement technology is available for licensing. The lens design increases the resolution in the center of the image without narrowing the field of view, and specialized algorithms enable 3× optical zoom in a compact camera module with no moving parts, enabling use in camera phones, PDAs, digital cameras and computing devices. The low f number in the zoom state improves low-light performance.
