The SI-1.3M50-EM electron-multiplying (EM) CCD camera from Salvador Imaging Inc. is suitable for low-light-level applications in areas such as surveillance, national security, biology, video microscopy and airborne imaging. Available in monochrome and color versions, the camera provides 1280 × 960-pixel resolution, progressive-scan video at up to 50 fps. It features ultralow-light sensitivity with on-chip gain of 1× to 1000×, true 12-bit digitization, a blooming overload rate of 1000:1, frame interline transfer architecture for on-chip shuttering and a Camera Link connector. The sensor provides programmable solid-stage gain. Closed thermoelectric coolers reduce dark current and dark current noise. Exposure times are from 1.3 ms to several seconds.
