Boeing Co. of St. Louis has been awarded a $49 million contract by the US Air Force. The company will support research, design, development and testing of gas, hybrid electric-gas and chemical lasers. Other efforts will include the prototyping of directed energy technology, such as semiconductor, thin-disk and ultrashort lasers as well as laser-based infrared countermeasures.
