Allied Vision Technologies GmbH has introduced its Stingray series machine vision IEEE-1394b CCD cameras. The series includes six models, with resolutions ranging from VGA to 2 megapixels, and the cameras are offered in color or monochrome. The FireWire port provides high-speed data transfer at up to 84 fps, and a glass optical fiber connection is available as an option. Features include a modular design, look-up tables, shading correction, white balance, and 2× to 8× binning that combines pixels both vertically and horizontally to enhance photosensitivity. The internal memory and deferred transport mode functions enable multicamera operation, and the sequence mode enables fast parameter changes. The sensor is positioned to optimize efficient heat dissipation and to minimize background noise in the image. The cameras measure 73 × 44 × 29 mm and weigh <100 g.
