Manufacturer: IRphotonics
INFRARED OPTICAL FIBER

IRphotonics.jpgIRphotonics has achieved very low attenuation in a commercial-grade multimode optical fiber in the mid-IR spectrum, a step toward enabling next-generation IR optical systems for medical, defense and general spectroscopy applications. They produced a long ultralow-loss fiber with less than 3 dB/km at 3.0 μm for a remote spectroscopy application in the chemical processing industry. The company’s single- and multimode mid-IR fibers with low hydroxyl ion content provide transmission efficiency from the UV to wavelengths of up to 4.5 μm. Flat spectral attenuation over the 1- to 3.7-μm range typically results in less than 0.2 dB/m losses with these fibers.
