The OV9710 high-definition video CameraChip sensor for mobile handsets, laptop computers and other applications has been released by OmniVision Technologies Inc. The 1-megapixel CMOS sensor is built with the proprietary OmniPixel3 architecture and a 3 × 3-μm pixel. With sensitivity ratings of more than 2300 mV/lx s, the 1/4-in. camera provides full-frame, subsampled, windowed 8-/10-bit images in raw RGB format via the digital video port. It delivers full-frame high-definition video at 30 fps WXGA (1280 × 800) or at 60 fps in subsampled WXGA (640 × 400) with user control over image quality, formatting and output data transfer. It incorporates functions such as white balance, and exposure and gain control.
