Toshiba Teli America Inc. has unveiled the CSF5M7C3L18NR, a remote-head camera that employs the Foveon X3 layered CMOS sensor, which contains 5 million photodetectors, each responsive to the full color spectrum. The sensor detects red, green and blue light at each pixel, resulting in perfect color registration and sharpness in luminance and chrominance. Suitable for applications in endoscopy, microscopy and industrial vision, the FireWire-B camera features a 29-mm remote head with a C-mount that is connected to the control unit by a flexible cable. Frame rates and image sizes can be modified to meet application needs. The company’s software developer’s kit is included.
