Lightwaves2020 Inc. has unveiled a microsecond polarization controller. Driven by a 0- to 5-V direct current to produce polarization control, the device operates from 1528 to 1610 nm and has a typical response time of <10 μs, insertion loss of <1.2 dB, polarization-dependent loss of <0.1 dB, 200 mW of maximum optical power and no moving parts. The controller is offered with three cells, and a fourth can be added for faster searching and controlling.
