SOLID-STATE LASER
Cobolt AB has released the Cobolt Fandango, a CW solid-state laser operating at a fixed wavelength of 515 nm and with an output power of 50 mW. Built on the Cobolt diode-pumped solid-state platform, the single-longitudinal-mode laser offers noise of <0.3% rms, a typical spectral linewidth of <30 MHz and beam quality of M
2 <1.1 over a temperature range of 10 to 40 °C, in a compact, hermetically sealed package. The system, which typically consumes less than 25 W of electrical power, is suitable for use in fluorescence analysis applications, such as spinning-disc confocal microscopy and high-speed plate reading. The laser controller is available in a Center for Devices and Radiological Health version and as an ultracompact remote-controlled OEM model.
