Fianium Ltd. has introduced the SC400-PP, a high-power fiber laser that generates supercontinuum radiation in the 400- to 2400-nm-wavelength range at a user-selectable repetition rate from 100 kHz to 40 MHz. The company says that the air-cooled laser is maintenance-free and does not require any adjustments. Spectral flatness is <6 dB, average power is 4 W, maximum power consumption is <100 W, and spectral density is >3 mW/nm. The laser measures 300 × 250 × 120 mm and weighs 4.5 kg. Applications include biomedicine, optical coherence tomography and metrology.
