NoblePeak Vision Corp. has introduced the TriWave germanium-enhanced CMOS image sensor with sensitivity from 400 to 1650 nm for security cameras. Because germanium detects the “night glow” in bands of radiation 90 km up in the Earth’s atmosphere, the sensor performs well at night. The standard sensors have a 720 × 576 array of pixels sized 10 × 10 μm, and the technology is scalable to larger arrays. The sensor can be integrated with traditional glass optics.
