Pacific Silicon Sensor and its parent company, Silicon Sensor, have launched a series of silicon avalanche photodiodes (APDs) enhanced for use in the 400- to 600-nm range. With QE > 70% at 400 nm and peak sensitivity at 600 nm, these devices are well-suited for a variety of biomedical applications. The new APDs come in a variety of active area sizes (100-um to 5-mm diameter) and offer fast rise times (down to 1.5 ns) and high gain.
