Fraunhofer IPMS has demonstrated miniaturized laser projection systems as small as 17 x 7 x 5 mm³ based on its 2-D resonant microscanning mirror for light deflection. It will demonstrate a combination MOEMS-based laser projection system and an IMU (inertial measurement unit), using a commercial racing wheel as a test object, at SID 2007. The position of the racing wheel is measured by an IMU with a three-axis acceleration sensor and three single-axis gyroscopes. The rotation of the wheel is compensated for a stable picture position and used to control an auto-racing game. The demo can obtain up to 20 frame rates per second with a resolution of 300 x 300 pixels.
