Zytronic designs and manufactures a range of technologies that optimize the performance of electronic display applications. The company’s principle products are its award-winning projected capacitive technology (PCT) -based touch sensors for use in commercial, consumer and industrial applications.

Zytronic’s PCT-based touch sensors comprise an array of sensing capacitors in the form of microfine wires embedded within a glass or plastic layered laminated screen. Depending on the screen's size, between 16 and 64 individual capacitors are deposited so as to effectively divide up the screen area into pixel-sized sensing cells.

The sensitivity of the PCT array can be adjusted to sense touch through a distance of up to 20 mm. As a result, the sensing medium is well-protected from accidental and deliberate damage, offering much-improved levels of durability and reliability than previously available technologies. It can also be operated with a gloved hand.

At SID 2007, Zytronic will be exhibiting its range of PCT products including: Zytouch, for high-performance touchscreen applications; Zypos/Zybrid, ideal for retail and gaming; Zyswitch, a multibutton switch system; and Zyprofilm, a reliable, lightweight large screen interactive display for storefronts and in other environments with monolithic glass surfaces up to 20-mm thick.
