PI (Physik Instrumente) LP, a manufacturer of nanopositioning equipment for photonics, nanotechnology and semiconductor applications, offers the improved F-206.S six-axis nanoalignment system which provides 6-D motion with 33-nm resolution, a virtual pivot point and very powerful alignment software for photonics components at a very competitive price.

Applications include photonics alignment and packaging, collimator /array alignment, micromachining, optical device testing, MEMS alignment and semiconductor handling, micromanipulation.
With hexapod technology, virtual pivot point capability, an optional photometer card and powerful alignment software, the F-206.S aligns arrays, waveguides and collimators up to 10 times faster than conventional systems. Its "parallel-kinematics" design with a virtual pivot point and vector-based 6D motion-controller is what sets the F-206.S system apart from conventional "stacked positioners."
Due to reduced moving mass (only one common platform for all six actuators), the system can respond and settle much faster than conventional multi-axis motion systems. It is also considerably more compact and accurate than conventional multi-axis stage stacks (serial kinematics), PI said. Its parallel-kinematics design and powerful, digital 6D controller also minimize unwanted crosstalk motion.
