Optoway Technology Inc. has released an extended-distance SFP transceiver module for up to 100-km transmission at 4 G,  120-km at 2 G, 160-km at 1G, and 200-km at 100 M. The extended-distance SFP is the high-performance module designed for ultralong-distance bidirectional serial optical data communications such as 4/2/1 GBd Fibre Channel, SDH/SONET and Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE. Its Hot-Pluggable SFP footprint optical transceiver is compliant with small-form-factor pluggable (SFP) MSA. Digital diagnostic functions are also available via an I2C.

The SPS-83100WG series SFP transceiver module reaches 100 km at 4G. It is designed for single-mode fiber and operates at a nominal wavelength of 1550 nm. A guaranteed minimum optical link budget of 28 dB is also offered. The transmitter section uses a 1550-nm multiple quantum well DFB laser and is Class 1 laser compliant .according to International Safety Standard IEC-60825.

The receiver section uses an integrated InGaAs detector preamplifier (IDP) mounted in an optical header and a limiting post-amplifier IC. A PECL logic interface simplifies interface to external circuitry.
