Navitar's electronic imaging and machine vision optics are now available via its Optical Wizard (www.opticalwizard.com), which offers dynamic lens selection.

The Optical Wizard is a step-by-step process for adding motorization, lighting, polarization and various mechanical features to create a customized solution. Simply enter the fundamental parameters of an imaging system such as field of view, working distance, the camera format/sensor size or camera-mount type.

The wizard computes the formulas for changing the numerical aperture with a zoom setting, the impact of coaxial illumination allowable on image format and many other complex algorithms. It quickly calculates input and provides results on various lens choices from  manufacturers such as Navitar, Melles Griot, Rodenstock, Fujinon and Mitutoyo.

The wizard also calculates the detail that selected lenses will allow a user resolve, as well as magnification ranges, working distance, field coverage and depth of field. Outline drawings and prices are also provided.
