AOptix is introducing two recently developed world-class laser-com terminals with unprecedented 40 Gb/s data rates. The key innovative technology behind the laser-com terminals is the proprietary and patent-pending adaptive optics (AO). The company is currently manufacturing demonstration models of the terminals for use in tactical data links and teleport communications. The terminals are targeted for both man-portable and mobile applications where lightweight, compact features combined with extremely fast data delivery are needed. The LCT-5 terminals are configured for fixed-site terrestrial links from 1 to 20 km. The R3.1 skyball terminals are configured for mobile links to 150 km. The fixed-site platforms include towers, buildings and man-portable tripods. The mobile platforms include aerostats, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), manned aircraft, ships and ground-based vehicles. Laser-com products utilize curvature wavefront sensors, deformable (adaptive) mirrors and real-time closed loop controls to extract essential beam information, resolve atmospheric distortions and acquire/align bidirectional terminals. AO technology ultimately ensures optimum beam quality, power and link connectivity. AOptix terminals are enabling numerous emerging applications for real-time data dissemination from large sensor platforms, instantaneous mobile optical networks, real-time analysis of SAR & EO/IR imaging, communications in RF suppressed environments, and mobile terrabit data storage and data transfer solutions.
